Water is the healthiest drink. It helps our body keep at the right temperature, and also helps our digestive system. Water also helps to transport nutrients around our body, and keeps our kidneys working properly. You should always drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Milk is is another healthy drink, especially for children. Milk contains lots of calcium, which is very important for growing strong, healthy bones.

Fizzy drinks are a 'sometimes' drink. They contain lots of sugar, and lots of it! One can of fizzy drink, such as Coca Cola or Fanta, can have 10 or more teaspoons of sugar. Too much sugar is unhealthy because it can damage our teeth, make us dehydrated and leads to poor concentration and poor sleep. Fizzy drinks can also pull calcium out of the bones of children, making their bones weaker. Many fizzy drinks also contain caffeine, which is found in coffee. Caffeine is not recommended for children.

Fruit juice is another 'sometimes' drink. Fruit juice actually has some good, healthy stuff in it, such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. However, it usually has lots of sugar in it, too, and we've already talked about what too much sugar can do. Fruit juice also has much less fibre in it than normal fruit, and it is always much healthier to eat fruit than to drink fruit juice.
